UCDC Wi-Fi Guide

UCDC-FGR Staff, Guest, Tenant, eduroam, and UCOP (California only)

At UCDC, choose the building network that matches who you are: UCDC-FGR STAFF, UCDC-Guest, UCDC-TENANTS, or eduroam. UCOP wireless (OPnet) is in California and is only for UCDC and FGR staff when they visit a UCOP location — it is not available at UCDC. Shared Wi-Fi passwords are not published in this public guide; contact UCDC IT for the current password.

Eduroam

Secure Wi-Fi for students and visitors using home campus credentials.

Connect to eduroam using the credentials from your home campus.

  1. 1Go to your Wi-Fi settings on your phone, tablet, laptop, or computer.
  2. 2Select eduroam from the list of available networks.
  3. 3Log in with your home campus credentials (for example, your campus username, often in an email-style form such as username@yourcampus.edu).

UCOP Wi-Fi (OPnet) — California only

OPnet is UCOP’s wireless in California. Use it only when UCDC or FGR staff visit UCOP. It is not available at UCDC.

  1. 1Use these steps only when you are physically at a UCOP site in California.
  2. 2Open the network list and select OPnet.
  3. 3Sign in with your UCOP username and password — not your UCDC password, and not a UCDC Wi-Fi shared key.
  4. 4Complete MFA if prompted.
  5. 5If you cannot join OPnet at UCOP, contact UCOP ITS. If you are at UCDC, do not look for OPnet; contact UCDC IT for the UCDC networks above.

If you cannot connect

Quick checks before you call the Service Desk.

  • At UCDC, confirm you selected the right network: UCDC-FGR STAFF for staff, UCDC-Guest for visitors, UCDC-TENANTS for tenants, or eduroam for home campus logins.
  • Do not look for OPnet at UCDC. OPnet is only at UCOP in California.
  • For UCDC-FGR STAFF, UCDC-Guest, and UCDC-TENANTS, ask UCDC IT for the current password. Do not use an old password from a printed sheet if IT has rotated it.
  • Eduroam uses your home campus password, not a UCDC shared key.
  • Confirm Caps Lock is off.
  • Forget the wireless network and join again.
  • Move closer to the room or hallway access point; thick walls can drop the signal.
  • Restart the device once if it has been asleep for a long time.
  • For events and classrooms, use the in-room desktop as a backup while IT investigates.
  • Do not join room PCs to a personal hotspot. Classroom and conference computers should stay on the building network so Zoom, printing, and support tools keep working.
